Product Review

The Sugarloaf medieval armor helmet is a variation of the classic flat-topped "Great Helm" used during the Crusades. The tall, pointed top of the Sugarloaf offered a much better glancing surface than the older flat-tops, allowing blows from swords, maces and axes to be harmlessly deflected. This Medieval helmet was popularly used from about 1275-1300 A.D. Measuring 13 1/3 inches tall, 9 1/2 inches deep and 8 inches wide, it is full sized and can be worn by most people. Made of 18 gauge cold rolled steel, with a galvanized coating on the inside to prevent rust and brass strip bands over the eye and nose areas, this helmet weighs just about 3 1/2 pounds. It does not come with a liner. This helmet is BRAND NEW, never worn or displayed, and looks great in home offices or studies. It is not recommended for use as an actual helmet during battle re-creations.
